M1 REPAIR DAILY #50 – Track demolition at Biatorbágy

At the end of March, in order to complete the Biatorbágy slip road by the end of May, we reorganised the traffic on the M1 Budapest side between km 17 and 19.

Since then, our colleagues have lifted the wearing course, the binder course and the base course, and demolition of the sub-base has begun.

On this section alone, we expect to move an estimated 6,000 cubic metres of earth, in some places to a depth of 100-120 centimetres, and completely rebuild the track.

After the earthworks, construction will continue with soil stabilisation and the construction of the pavement base, and will be completed with the 32 cm thick asphalt layer, which is now one and a half times thicker than before, and the traffic engineering.

The first section of the M1 extension to be completed here, at Biatorbágy, will be the final track and traffic engineering.

We plan to open the Biatorbágy on-ramp and the main line at the end of May.

The following animation will help you understand the timing and workflow to get from the original traffic pattern to the new widened lane and what the 2+1+1 diversion is:

We will keep you informed about changes to traffic regulations and closures in the usual way in our information group, which you can join freely via the link below:
