M1 REPAIR DAILY #40 – Reed treatment

Despite the wintry weather and the hard frosts, since the beginning of January, our colleagues have carried out more than 60 different works at nearly half a dozen different locations on the M0 between Tatabánya and Komárom – Concó.

Some of these are tasks that may not always be visible to road users from the main line, but are important to complete so that the next phases of the extension can get underway. These are mainly related to utilities, bridge and road works, traffic engineering and environmental protection facilities.

On the section of the M1 affected by the widening, the earthworks and road widening will be carried out prior to the replacement of the crossing structures and facilities.

Work is underway on around 75% of the bridges (54 structures in total), beams have been lifted over the deck at three locations, and the deck slab has been concreted at one structure.

In addition to bridge construction, our colleagues are also carrying out embankment foundation and construction work, as well as so-called reed treatment work.

There are several bridges on the section to be widened that require this technique to widen them. This solution is intended to ensure that the embankment remains strong during the demolition and reconstruction of the bridge.

The current photos were taken at the Torbágyi road connecting Biatorbágy and Páty. This road is expected to be partially open to traffic by the end of April 2026. This means that from spring, traffic will be able to use traffic lights, one lane, alternating direction.

We will keep you informed about changes to traffic regulations and closures in the usual way in our information group, which you can join freely via the link below:
