M1 CONSTRUCTION DAILY #43 – Node construction

Work is also progressing well on the M1 motorway at Biatorbágy, where a completely new junction with a completely new track and design is being built.

Up to now, the only way to drive up here was towards Budapest. Now a full-fledged junction is being built – which, once completed, will allow on- and off-ramps to Budapest and Győr. The construction will also include a new cycle path section on a separate route along the main road 1.

Once the new junction is completed, it will be possible to exit and exit in all directions.

Currently, excavation, drainage upgrades, embankment widening and bridge construction are taking place simultaneously in the area.

The Budapest-bound slip road is scheduled to be open to traffic by the end of May, until then, drivers will have to take an alternative route.

In January, we worked on 89 sites on the sections to be extended. Despite the wintry weather, heavy snow and precipitation, and hard frosts, 1,500 of our colleagues are working every day on the M1 widening section, both directly on the main line and behind the scenes.

Road construction work was carried out in 23 places, temporary traffic engineering in 7, bridge construction in 53, water engineering in 4 and environmental works in 2.

Some of these are tasks that may not always be visible to road users from the main line, but are important to complete so that the next phases of the extension can get underway.

The following animation will help you understand the timing and workflow to get from the original traffic pattern to the new widened lane and what the 2+1+1 diversion is:
