M1 CONSTRUCTION DAILY #58 – Bridge construction

Work is underway to rebuild or rebuild 72 bridges and overpasses on the 78 km stretch between the M0 and the Concó rest area to accommodate the new, wider track when the expansion is complete.

In the last few weeks, experts have been concreting the foundations of the newly built piles, i.e. the pile girders, at the Tatabánya-New Town junction bridge.

At the bridge, 2 to 2 structures are built per side, and after the formwork is in place, the working pits are filled in.

During the next phase of the expansion, when traffic on the Budapest side will be moving in 2+2 traffic, the Győr side of the bridge will be completely demolished, the missing pile supports and piers will be completed, and the new superstructure will be built.

The removal of the old bridge girders and the installation of the new ones will be carried out at night, during periods of low traffic, in order to minimise traffic congestion.

The following animation shows how to get from the original traffic pattern to the new widened track and what the 2+1+1 diversion is:

We have launched a dedicated website on the M1 extension to provide credible and fast information.

The site provides dedicated and continuously available information in several languages on the M1: possible junction closures, rest area restrictions and the current traffic regime are also shown on the map, as well as emergency stopping points, for example.

The site is available here: https://development.mkif.hu/m1

IMPORTANT!
We will provide 2×2 lanes for traffic throughout the extension. So there will also be 2-2 lanes in the direction of Győr and Budapest. Cars and trucks can use the lane continuously!

Thank you for your patience! We are on track. Together, with you.
