In the autumn of 2024, the preliminary works of the M1 extension started with the relocation of protected plants, felling of trees, archaeological trial excavations and test piling. These works did not affect traffic on the line.
But now we have reached another important point before the actual expansion can begin: the preparatory work on the main line will also start.
What does it mean?
First of all, between Óbarok and Tatabánya (42-56 km), traffic will be shifted to the outside and the hard shoulder on both sides by lane closures.
This will allow work to start on the dividing lane:
- Vegetation will be removed, the existing drainage systems will be repaired and the current strip barrier will be replaced by concrete dividers to make traffic safer.
- We will also build service crossings and emergency bays so that during expansion, if there is a technical problem, it will be possible to get out of the traffic lane as quickly as possible and rescue operations can be carried out more quickly.
- Bridges and overpasses will have to be rebuilt or completely rebuilt, so the necessary intermediate supports will also be built.
The works will be carried out in several phases, in several locations, and we will keep you updated on our online platforms!
The junctions and rest areas on the route will remain accessible!
As before, the distractions will be limited to 80 km/h!
Take the above-mentioned Óbarok-Tatabánya section as an example. At 80 km/h, the journey time is only 3.5 minutes longer than if you were driving at 130 km/h. Is it worth the risk?
Take responsibility for yourself, other road users and our colleagues!
Thank you for your patience!
We are on track. Together, with you.
