Last night, 167 machines worked, delivering 2,600 tonnes of salt and 350,000 litres of solution to the tracks we operate. We are working non-stop on the tracks, with machines returning to the Engineering Department only for refuelling and salting.
Our staff have been on the ground for the last 24 hours. Before the snow started to fall, we carried out preventive snow ploughing on all the stretches we operate, and after the snow started to fall, we also started ploughing and salting.
The pavements are salty and sloppy. Visibility is good almost everywhere.
Among the busier routes, the M7 and M3 are also passable.
By 8am, the M1 was back to normal. No vehicles were stuck on the section affected by the earlier congestion.
The M1 also has two lanes towards Budapest and Hegyeshalom. There may still be some section congestion, but this is often caused by truckers taking their rest time and stopping in the lane without due consideration. This hinders winter clearance operations. Naturally, in these cases, the police are informed!
On all the motorways we operate, the road surface is either salted or slushy, despite the winter weather it is passable, with intermittent congestion on Wednesday morning at 9.00 only on the M1!
It is important that everyone continues to set off only with a vehicle in good technical condition, with sufficient fuel and with sufficient preparation!
