These days, the so-called “winter machine inspection” is taking place at our 20 maintenance centres across the country.

Previously, we had prepared the vehicles and equipment needed for the winter service.  The machines had received corrosion protection, the salt spreaders had been calibrated and checked.

MKIF Plc. is preparing for the winter period with almost 500 instruments (salt spreaders, snow ploughs), including 150 motorized vehicles, and 450 road maintenance colleagues will be involved in winter operations nationwide.

We have 28,000 tonnes of road salt, 650,000 litres of de-icing solution and a further 273 tonnes of granulated salt available at our maintenance centres, but we can replenish the stock at any time if necessary.

Preparing for winter weather conditions, including de-icing and snow removal, is one of the most important tasks of the road network operation.
