This year’s road rehabilitation on the MKIF Zrt. network starts from 26 March

On Thursday 26 March, this year’s road rehabilitation works will start on the roads managed by MKIF Zrt. Six express roads (M1, M3, M30, M35, M7, M70) will be resurfaced on a planned and larger scale, with a total of 630,000 square metres planned. In addition to replacing the asphalt layers, 3 bridges and 5 lay-bys will be renewed in 2026. The primary objective of the works is to improve road safety.

This year, the M3, M1 and M7 motorways will see the biggest resurfacing projects. As in previous years, we will keep road users informed about the works in advance via ÚTINFORM and on our own website, which is accessible via this link:

Renovation – MKIF Hungarian Concession Infrastructure Development Ltd.

In addition to the current traffic regime, it also includes information on possible junction and lay-by closures, but also the planned start and end dates of works.

It is important to note that, as has been the case for the past three years, there will be no pre-planned works in either direction on the M7 between the M0 and Balatonvilágos during the holiday period. Before and after the holiday period, only minor resurfacing works are currently planned in the direction of Lake Balaton, while major resurfacing works are planned on the Budapest side of the route.

In the last three years (2023, 2024 and 2025), we have laid a total of 13 million square metres of new asphalt on the tracks we operate. This was the biggest motorway reconstruction project in Hungary’s history. Where necessary, we replaced both the binding and base layers under the top wearing course. The work involved 2.5 million tonnes of asphalt. During the same three years, 315 bridges and flyovers and 68 rest areas were also renewed.

Compared to previous years, from this year onwards there will be significantly fewer roadworks and diversions on the MKIF Zrt. network throughout the country, but we nevertheless ask road users to drive carefully and cautiously, obeying the rules of the Highway Code, in diversions, alongside our colleagues and the work areas.

Our company aims to minimise disruption to traffic during construction works, while ensuring the efficiency of work and the safety of road users.

We ask for and thank you for your patience and understanding! We work for you!
