New traffic regime at the Sasfészek-tó rest area from Thursday

Due to widening works on the M1 motorway, a new temporary traffic regime will be in place at the Sasfészek lake rest area on both sides of the motorway, including the Budapest and Győr side, from today.

‼️ IMPORTANT ‼️

The on- and off-ramps will remain uninterrupted, only the alignment of the junction branches will be modified to allow the construction of the associated structures and junction branches to start.

After the detailed description we have uploaded a map!

From Thursday (02.04.2026) the following traffic regime will apply:

  • From Biatorbágy / Páty on the M1 towards Győr:

Turning off the Kerekdombi / St. Joseph Street, you should drive in the inner lane of the exit branch for a short stretch, and divert traffic back to your side along the 10559 road. From here, you can drive onto the motorway via the temporary slip road, as before.

  • On the M1 from Budapest towards Páty / Biatorbágy:

At the end of the exit ramp, 1 lane is available instead of 2, from where you can turn left and right or drive straight on.

  • From Biatorbágy / Páty direction M1 Budapest:

Turning off Szent József utca, there is 1 lane available (about 80 m long). At the junction, you can turn left towards the petrol station or go straight on towards Budapest.

  • On the M1 from Győr towards Páty / Biatorbágy:

Follow the road parallel to the petrol station along the edge of the rest area and turn right at the end, then follow the other side of the rest area to reach St. Joseph Street. For the last section (approx. 80 m), traffic will use the inside lane of the driveway.

It is important to note that the service station at the rest area can be accessed and left from all directions, and the rest area facilities can be used without restriction.

We are currently working on a number of traffic engineering interventions on the M1 widening section and will report on these soon.
