The first girder of the 56-metre “slot” bridge being built in the area of Csém was lifted into place on Monday night.
The 27.5-tonne element had to be fitted into place with centimetre precision.
The other half of the bridge girder, weighing 26 tonnes, will be lifted into place overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, so temporary traffic conditions will be in place overnight.
Whenever possible, the extension works will be carried out from the work area and/or service roads to minimise disruption to traffic.
However, bridge work can affect traffic on the main line, so this work is mainly carried out during the night at lower traffic times.
For this reason, temporary traffic restrictions are often in place at night during the M1 motorway widening project, but it is important to ensure that traffic is still available in both directions.
Please pay attention to the information signs posted.
It is important that the track under expansion must also be operated, and here too we strive to perform all tasks at night, whenever and wherever possible!
The following animation shows how to get from the original traffic pattern to the new widened track and what the 2+1+1 diversion is:
We have launched a dedicated website on the M1 extension to provide credible and fast information.
The site provides dedicated and continuously available information in several languages on the M1: possible junction closures, rest area restrictions and the current traffic regime are also shown on the map, as well as emergency stopping points, for example.
The site is available here: https://development.mkif.hu/m1
Please drive with extra care while working!
