M1 EXPANSION DIARIES #6 – Pavement Reinforcement

As we have reported several times before, preparatory works for the M1 motorway expansion will start on the main track this spring.

Once the diversions have been set up, work will be carried out at the following locations:

From 5 March (Wednesday) in both directions around Óbarok (kilometre marker 41) in the hard shoulder, and

From 6 March (Thursday), the binder and wearing course of the inner lane will be replaced in the vicinity of Tatabánya (kilometre marker 60) and Komárom (kilometre marker 76) towards the Austrian border. It enables the safe travel of cars diverted here later, during the expansion.

No junction or rest stop will be closed.

From now until mid-May, there will be a continuous series of diversions and large-scale pavement replacement works at various locations along the M1 motorway between Óbarok and Komárom (between kilometre markers 41 and 88).

We will keep road users informed about the works and diversions via our website, Facebook and ÚTINFORM.

It is important to note that these works are not part of the levelling up (nationwide, large-scale resurfacing works), which will only start mid-March.

These pavement replacements are being carried out specifically on the sections of the M1 motorway affected by the expansion to make traffic safer.

Preparatory work not affecting the main line has been ongoing since autumn on the M1 motorway.
