On Sunday 22 March, traffic on the M1 motorway will change in the area of the M1-M0 junction after the diversion is rebuilt.
The new traffic regime is necessary because during the current traffic regime, congestion can be long, even at peak times, on the motorway and on the surrounding roads in the area of the Eagle’s Nest Lake rest area and Biatorbágy. The completion of the Biatorbágy slip road, scheduled for May, could help to alleviate this traffic situation.
This, however, requires the closure of the side of the line leading to the capital, so that the full width of the section concerned can be completed more quickly than previously planned, including the Biatorbágy slip road.
This solution will allow for smoother and faster morning peak traffic flows.
So that we can carry out these works:
🔺 we will close the uninterrupted lane between kilometres 19 and 17,
🔺 all traffic heading towards Budapest will be diverted to the lane already diverted.
This will allow 2+2 traffic on the Győr side of the line, maintaining the 2-2 lanes in each direction. In other words, there will be two lanes on the border and towards the capital, while the side towards Budapest will be a work zone.
From the diverted lane, it will be possible to return to the M0 motorway in 2 lanes at junction 17.
And those who want to continue towards Budaörs should use the detoured inner lane, similar to the current traffic pattern.
We have also produced a map of the new traffic order.
Please note that from Sunday, drivers heading towards the capital should not drive out of habit! Pay attention to signs and signals!
Drivers travelling towards the border will not be affected by the new traffic regime!
Due to the modification of the traffic regime, the through lane towards Budapest will be closed between km 61 and km 17 from 8 am to early afternoon on Sunday 22 March 2026 for the duration of the works. Traffic towards Budapest is only allowed to use the uninterrupted lane!
Thank you for your patience! We wish you an accident-free journey!
