Bearing replacement at Kőröshegy Valley Bridge – Works are in Full Swing

Bearings are special elements of the bridge that allow the controlled movement of the bridge structure, ensuring the stability of the bridge. 10 tonnes at a height of almost 50 metres.

Three of the 38 bearings of the viaduct are badly worn and are being replaced. This replacement is proceeding as planned.

And as there’s no traffic on the bridge now, we’ll do all the other tasks and renovations that we can.

Anti-corrosion coatings of dilatation joints will also be renewed in the full cross-section of the bridge (4 locations).

Asphalting and embankment repairs are also underway on the closed section, speeding up the levelling up works of the track.

Our colleagues will also carry out repairs to the guard rails and light deflector nets on the affected section. These works would otherwise have caused traffic restrictions.

What does a bearing replacement look like? Now we’ll show you!
