The elements of the new bridge under construction on the M1 motorway at Óbarok were lifted at night
The 70-metre long, 6.5-metre wide steel structure was put in place by a 650 and a 450-tonne crane in 2 parts over 2 nights.
The 83 and 56-tonne structures were placed on a so-called hydraulic press.
In the next few days, the 2 elements will be welded together and the hydraulic mechanism will be used to lower the 139-tonne bridge onto the end spar. Work will then continue with the formwork of the bridge.
At this stage, the diverted lane towards Budapest will be moved to the un-diverted lane between km 42 and 43, probably by mid-December. This is necessary because a so-called hanging scaffold has been erected in the diverted lane. Construction of the bridge will continue with night and day work, with traffic restrictions and lane closures at night.
It is important to note that during the day we will provide 2-2 lanes in each direction, so that traffic can use 2 lanes in both directions towards Budapest and Győr.
Please do not drive out of habit! Pay attention to the signs and obey the speed limits.
We will keep you informed about changes to traffic regulations and closures in the usual way in our information group, which you can join freely via the link below:
