From Tuesday to Wednesday night, our colleagues lifted the first elements of the new bridge under construction on the M1 motorway at junction 44. Our colleagues made such good progress that they completed the work in one night instead of the two originally planned. So today, Wednesday, we are only planning a few hours of night-time traffic restrictions there.
Now, 5 pairs of beams, each weighing 36 tonnes, have been put in place. This work requires a high level of concentration and precision. The elements, weighing tens of tonnes, have to be fitted into place with millimetre precision.
These lifts can (or should) only be carried out safely in an area away from traffic. To minimise disruption to traffic on the road, bridge construction work is carried out at night.
Traffic conditions may change from night to night in the coming days, so please check the map in the article below for the latest restrictions:
On the same side, on the Győr side, the new elements are scheduled to be put in place between 22:00 and 6:00 on Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday night.
Temporary traffic restrictions and lane closures are expected on the M1 during the next few days, BUT ONLY AT NIGHT (expected between 22:00 and 06:00)
During the works, traffic will be guaranteed in both directions. The track will only be closed at night and for a short period of time, maximum a few minutes.
It is important to note that the track will be open in both directions during the work, but due to crane operations such as those on Tuesday evening, we will have to close some lanes and occasionally stop traffic for short periods (5-10 minutes). Information on timings and diversions will always be given in advance and in good time.
The restriction is necessary because it is the only way to safely embed the beams of the bridge under construction and to form the bridge with formwork and concrete.
It is important to note that the diversions and restrictions due to the multi-phased works may affect traffic ONLY AT NIGHT, during the day traffic may proceed according to the current traffic regime!
Thank you for your patience, both locals and motorists! We work for you! Accident-free traffic for everyone!
