M1 EXPANSION DIARIES #19 – Copper piling, embankment piling

Since last autumn, preparatory work has also been ongoing on the non-main line.

Where necessary, more than 300 piles will be drilled 10.5 metres deep in the areas to be widened, to help support the planned sloping bank. During the previous motorway construction, this section of the road was subject to significant earth sliding, and to avoid this, the piles have been designed on the basis of thorough geotechnical studies.

In addition, the embankment foundations and widening are underway, as a temporary track structure is being built on these embankments, so during the widening of the Hegyeshalom side, traffic can run on 2+2 lanes in both directions on the Budapest side.

Thank you for your patience!

We are on track. Together, with you.
