MKIF Plc. will start renovation works at the M1-M0 junction on 14.09.2024 (Saturday), which are expected to last until 31.10.2024. As a result, several junctions will be closed. Last year, we worked on the same section, but only completed the most essential renovation work. Due to the renovation of the main railway line 1, we voluntarily stopped renovation and operational tasks on this part of the M1 motorway for weeks to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and replacement buses. But the major renovation here cannot wait any longer. We are trying to do as much as possible during the closure period. This means that during asphalting the entire damaged wearing course and binder course of the road will be renewed, waterproofing will be renewed, sealing protection asphalt will be cast, the curb protection will be repaired coating and so-called pavement drainage system will be built. These works will involve traffic restrictions and the closure of junctions.

The following changes to the traffic regime will take effect from 14.09.2024 (Saturday) at the junction: 

• From the M0, both the M1 motorway and the main road 1 will also be accessible on half lanes.

• There is no access to the M0 from either Biatorbágy or Budapest, so the M1 motorway towards Hegyeshalom can only be reached via the Sasfészek-tó rest stop. 

o Drivers coming from Budapest on the main road 1 should continue to the Sasfészek-tó rest stop, through which it is possible to access the M1 running towards the Austrian border.  

• You can access the M1 motorway towards Budapest at the Biatorbágy junction.

o This means that if you are coming from the Austrian border on the main road 1, you should take the M1 motorway at Biatorbágy and from there you will reach the M0 motorway. 

o Drivers arriving on the main road 1 from Budapest should continue to the Biatorbágy junction, from where the motorway towards Budapest, including the M0 motorway, is accessible.

• On the M1 motorway, drivers coming from Budapest can also reach the M0 motorway via the Biatorbágy on-ramp.

o This means that from the M1 motorway, at the Tópark junction at kilometre marker 15, you should exit onto the main road 1, and from there you can drive onto the motorway at Biatorbágy and then onto the M0.

• On the M1 motorway, drivers coming from Győr cannot exit onto the main road 1 at the M0 junction.

o For them, the exit is possible at the Sasfészek-tó rest stop or at Törökbálint.
