Snowy Night – Report

From early evening onwards, our engineers carried out continuous preventive salt spreading, de-icing and, as soon as the sleet turned to snow, snow ploughing. Due to the continuous snowfall, our 138 machines have spread 1345.78 tonnes of road salt and 317,270 litres of brine on the tracks so far. Our colleagues have returned to certain sections of the road several times and are still doing so.

In several parts of the country, lorries were turned sideways on-ramps or even on the road, paralysing traffic. According to our information, they were trying to reach their destination on wet roads with worn tyres that were not suitable for the winter season.

Our snowploughs, which had been working non-stop on the maintained sections due to the heavy snowfall in the morning, were unable to continue their journey due to the cross-turned vehicles and were stuck for hours, just like the travellers.

At the moment, only the M3 motorway is closed at kilometre marker 156, where a technical rescue of a truck that has slid around is underway.

All other sections have been passable since dawn, with no restrictions, on salt-wet pavement!

We would like to point out that we won’t be there in front of every single driver, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been there before and won’t go again! We are constantly on the roads.

It is dangerous and forbidden to overtake our snowploughs and/or salt spreaders, because a car that is overtaking and accelerating can easily skid on a road that has not yet been cleared or has not been completely cleared. This could result in an accident and injuries to several people, including our colleagues.

Please drive more carefully than usual and keep a greater distance between vehicles! And make sure your car is in good working order and has suitable tires before setting off!

Thanks for the hard work of our colleagues! Video: https://fb.watch/v-_4m6b-bp
