Motorbike ambulance and tow truck on duty on the M3 during the Formula 1 weekend

The Hungarian Concession Infrastructure Development Plc. (MKIF Zrt.) is looking forward to the Formula 1 race weekend. A VIP lane was developed for our colleagues, drivers and teams on the M3 between the M0 and the Hungaroring. In addition, our staff have placed more than 100 traffic signs on and around the motorway to make it easy for everyone to find their way around.

Similar to last year, a motorbike ambulance and a tow truck will be on standby near the Hungaroring to provide fast and efficient assistance and, if necessary, we will distribute water in the event of a traffic jam, as we did last year. Our colleagues can also assist the police in directing traffic, if necessary. We ask everyone to follow the instructions of the police.

The 39th Hungarian Grand Prix will be held between 19 and 21 July in Mogyoród. The Hungaroring is the second venue (after Monza) to be on the calendar without interruption.

On the section of the M3 near the capital, longer journey times and congestion can be expected during the race weekend. During the race, the number of vehicles using the motorway is a third higher than in an average weekend (up to 46,000 cars a day instead of the average 36,000). Drivers on the M3 motorway can approach the circuit from the Mogyoród / Hungaroring junction at kilometres 19 and 23. The temporary VIP lane is reserved for authorised users only.

From the direction of the Liszt Ferenc International Airport and the M5 motorway, we recommend the M0 motorway – M31 motorway as the ideal route. From the M31 drivers have to drive onto the M3 motorway towards Budapest, from where you can also access the Hungaroring via the junction at km 23 or 19.

The temporary traffic rules will be indicated by yellow information signs and variable message signs above the motorways. To avoid congestion, on Sunday afternoon, drivers travelling on the M3 motorway to Budapest should take the M31 motorway – M0 motorway from Gödöllő. After the race, you can drive onto the M3 motorway at both the junction at km 19 and the Mogyoród junction.

We kindly remind you that the race is on the Hungaroring, not on the motorways!

MKIF Zrt. wishes you a safe journey!
